What concreters on renovate.com.au take on
Before you start
What to know before you get quotes
Ask what is under the concrete
Compacted base, reinforcing mesh and a vapour barrier decide whether a slab cracks in five years or fifty. They should each be named in the quote.
Thickness follows the load
A footpath and a driveway that takes a caravan are not the same pour. Tell the concreter what will sit on it and check the specified thickness.
Finish is chosen before the pour
Exposed aggregate, coloured oxide or a stencil pattern all change the mix and the timing. Decide before the truck is booked.

- 2Is excavation and removal of the old surface included?
- 3How will you manage drainage and falls?
- 4When can I drive or walk on it?
- 5Is sealing included, and when should it be redone?
