Underlay for under bathroom tiles

Question

I am going to tile the bathroom floor and don't want to tile on top of the existing floorboards as it will create too much of a lip. I have added joists to the underfloor and want to know what I can put on these to tile on top of. Obviously I want it to be thin but safe and strong.

Answer

There is a ceramic tile underlay available from James Hardie's range of products that is 6mm thick, comes in sheets of 1200mm by 1800mm, is suitable for wet area construction and can be applied directly over tongue & groove timber flooring.
